NSDI 2013, the premier event bringing together GIS application developers, government agencies and the industry, will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in Mumbai, India. NSDI-13 will be held on Nov. 29-30, 2013, and it will be followed by the OGC Technical Committee meeting from Dec. 2-6, 2013 at the same venue. OGC is the Industry Consortium that is devoted to developing all Spatial and GIS related standards. Its key standards GML and associated services such as WFS and WMS are being widely implemented in Indian context too, and this initiative has been led by NSDI.
The organizing committee of NSDI-13 invites you to participate in NSDI-13. The details of the previous NSDI Conferences are available at NSDI site (https://nsdiindia.gov.in/nsdi/welcome.html). NSDI-12 was held in Delhi and NSDI-11 was held at IISc in Bangalore. The 2-day event is organized annually with strong participation of NSDI stakeholders from Govt. agencies, Industry, Academia, and NGOs through invitation. It has been attracting approx. 150-180 participants in the past. The conference has a plenary session consisting of keynotes from policy makers as well as application experts. This is followed by series of technical sessions. There will be one invited sessions from NSDI stakeholders highlighting their work in the recent past. There will be a session from vendors focusing on advances in ge-spatial technologies and new application areas. NSDI-13 will include a s session on recent research projects relating to Interoperability and new OGC standards. These projects were supported through DST/IITB GISE Research Grant Call. Finally, we plan to have a session on capacity building and education and training needs in GIS related areas.
Another important feature of NSDI-13 will be a series of tutorials planned on Dec. 1, 2013, highlighting recent standards and technologies for innovative and critical applications of geospatial data.
NSDI 2013 will be a good opportunity to update yourself with Indian and International thrust areas in geo-spatial technologies and applications, and also on new initiatives in this area. Eminent National & International speakers will share their views and experiences on a variety of subjects during scientific sessions.
We look forward to your enthusiastic participation.
